Frequently Asked Questions
Below you can find a list of questions, if you do not see the question you would need then please fill out the form above and we will try to answer to the best of our ability.
-
Classes start the week of August 12th, 2024.
-
Class level is determined by majority by age. If your child has had more than 2 years experience in a certain dance style, they may be eligible for level 2. In most cases this requires a trial and placement evaluation from a Haven Dance instructor.
-
At every level, instructors make it a priority to ensure that your child is being challenged. If you are concerned that your child is not being challenged, please contact us to discuss other placements!
We ask that you register your child in the classes designed for their age. In the rare case that a dancer should be bumped up from their age group, our team will recommend another level or age group.
-
There are some instances where a child does not like dance, and would prefer another activity.
However, more often than not, the child is not in the correct dance class. For example, your child may be taking Ballet, but may prefer a more energetic class like Musical Theater or Hip Hop. We recommend trying another dance style before dropping dance completely.
If your child seems to struggle with liking dance or coming to dance, please reach out to us to discuss your concerns. We are more than happy to help! Our team can advise you on the best class style for your child.
Our desire is that dance is an enjoyable activity for your child!
If a student needs to withdraw early from the season, a Class Withdrawal Form must be completed to close the account and prevent further billing. Haven Dance requires notice by the 15th of the month to avoid charges on the next billing cycle on the 1st of the month. Please email info@danceathaven.com for a Class Withdrawal Form. A Class Withdrawal form MUST be received by the studio.
Please note that all registration fees, recital fees, and costume fees are non-refundable.

Combo classes are an excellent way to introduce your child to a variety of dance styles in the convenience of one class! For our double combo classes the first half of the class will consist of one style, and the second half will consist of the other style. For our triple combo classes, the first half of the class will consist of Ballet weekly, and the second half of the class will alternate between Tap and Jazz every other week. For all combo classes, there will be one style of dance in the recital. The style of dance performed is evaluated by the instructor. For example, if the majority of the class is thriving in Ballet, then Ballet will be the dance style for recital.
-
Dance dress codes typically include a leotard, tights, and dance shoes, with special exceptions for some classes. Please visit our dress code page for the latest updates, information for the Fall 2023-2024 season dance wear requirements, and where you can purchase dress code approved dance wear. We kindly ask that you refrain from bare midriffs to reflect our value of modesty. No bare midriffs are permitted in Ballet, Lyrical, or Contemporary.
